Introduction: Hyderabad Astronomical Society, Pakistan was founded by a group of three students of Isra University, Hyderabad. The society organized its first public astronomy session at the Isra University during World Space Week 2011. The event was the first of its kind in the city of Hyderabad, and attracted a large number of participants from different schools, colleges and universities.

Since then, the society has actively engaged in organizing similar public observation sessions at their parent university and other educational institutes in Hyderabad and its surroundings, which includes conducting a joint session in collaboration with SUPARCO for celebrating World Space Week 2012 at the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro.

The society believes in open debate on not only astronomy but on all aspects of science which have an impact on humans. For this, we started a monthly get together named ‘Cosmic Tea Party’ for discussing different topics that include but are not limited to cosmology, biology, medicine, education, physics, scientific method, etc.
The current executive committee consists of three doctors, one of whom is also a CSP, a journalist, two software engineers and one with a solid literary background, making it a diverse group of professionals who share one common interest that is science.
